(May 30, 2023) - "Humanity towards others," said Grammy nominated Jazz guitarist Jonathan Butler (George Duke) about the meaning of the title to his newest album release "Ubuntu" (Mack Avenue Records). "I am, because you are. We are all connected to one another...completely connected. I learned that from Desmond Tutu...he is a movement. He was the leader who brought our country (South Africa) together."

Jonathan Butler (Juanita Bynum) will be performing his style guitar playing, that has made him a living legend, at the Merriweather Post Pavilion (Columbia, Maryland) Sunday June 4, 2023. Singles released from the "Ubuntu" album that are currently at radio include "When Love Comes In" featuring vocalist Keb'Mo', "No Tomorrow," and a cover of "Super Woman" featuring Stevie Wonder on harmonica. The "Ubuntu" project is produced by bass player Marcus Miller (Miles Davis, Luther Vandross).

"Marcus got what I was feeling," Jonathan said about Miller's production skills on this project. "He was the driver."

A prodigy child, Miller began touring at the tender age of seven while being raised during apartheid with his 11 siblings. By the time he was a teen, he was an idol in his hometown of Cape Town, South Africa. He later signed with Jive Records and moved to the UK. By the age of 27 Jonathan garnered his first Grammy nomination. He currently holds two Grammy nominations.

Residing in California now, Jonathan Butler's "Ubuntu" makes his 28th studio album release. The new project offers 11 tracks. He not only also plays R&B, Worship Music and Jazz Fusion on his guitar, but he is a superb vocalist.
