The Pulse of Entertainment: Vocalist Kat Hawley Debuts with ‘Keep On, Keepin' On' Featuring Steve Cole on Sax, Eric Valentine on Drums and Caleb Middleton on Keyboards

(July 25, 2023) - "It came together nicely," said Jazz/Classical/R&B singer Kat Hawley about her debut single "Keep On, Keepin' On". "Adam had some...music. I had written a song journal. He said write something right now."

Adam is guitarist Adam Hawley, her husband and musical partner. He is a 12-time Billboard Chart topper. The "Keep On, Keepin' On" single is co-written by Caleb Middleton who plays keyboards on the debut single. Adams plays guitar, Steve Cole is on sax, and Eric Valentine plays drums.

"The first time I sang it is when it was recorded," she told me when I asked. "I've known Steve for a very long time. I did a few shows with him and the Sax Pack. His sound has a distinctive sound...powerful, aggressive, soulful. Adam produces for Steve."

She met Adam in her circle of artist friends. They worked together and as they say, "the rest is history." Adam tours all over the world as a music producer, guitarist and keyboardist and Kat as the vocalist. He has performed and recorded with such icon musicians as Dave Koz, Marcus Anderson, Greg Manning, Julian Vaughn, and Marqueal Jordon.

"It's something that I want to do...release my own music," Kat said while telling me her story. "I started touring with Adam and I was selling merchandise, and people asked, ‘Where is yours?'"

Kat admits to being a perfectionist and as she was telling me about herself, I saw how Adam took that into consideration by recording her on the spot while developing the single. In Jazz there is no perfection, there is only improvising, going with the flow - whatever that is.

"I've been a vocalist for a long time...got my start in the church, elementary school, professional theaters," Kat told me. "I was classically trained in high school. I played guitar...in church."

It was the church environment where she met Adam.

"I was working at other churches as Praise & Worship (Leader)...He (Adam) was touring," she said about their "courtship" period. "We became friends, talked all the time. I started a Praise & Worship (ministry) in church, and he became music minister."

After 12 Billboard hits Adam Hawley is now guiding Kay to the top of Billboards too starting with her debut "Keep on, Keepin' On" single in a unique way. Releasing the first recording of the song and starting the single off with the beautiful sax playing of Steve Cole - it's brilliant.
