The Pulse of Entertainment: Country Music' Rising Star Julia
Poorman Releases Music Video for New Single, ‘How Ya Gonna Tell Her'
(January
5, 2024) - "I listened to Country music while growing up," said singer/songwriter Julia Poorman when
I asked how a New York girl can end up embracing Country music. "I'm originally from Central New York, the South...farmland,
very rural."I was talking to Julie recently about the release of the music video for her single "How Ya
Gonna Tell Her." The single has assistance from Danny Roselle on guitar, Johnny Blaze on bass, and Philip
Sterk on pedal steel.
"I wrote the songs' lyrics and melody," she
explained when I probed about the birth of the song. "I brought it to...the producer. He elevated the track."
The music
video for "How You Gonna Tell Her" is directed by Steven Nathan (Art in the Chaos Productions). It showcases the
real Julia Poorman, a Country music loving superstar. The "How Ya Gonna Tell Her" video can be seen on MTV, Apple
TV, and Medi Flix.
Julia Poorman shows her range on the "How Ya Gonna Tell Her" single, vocally she gets really
low - I was impressed. I asked her about it - such a deep range.
"Most songs I won't sing in this register. I took lessons for this
song. I learned some tips," she told me. "I'm (normally) more of a mid-range soprano. I sang in choirs, and I was
always as a soprano because I can go high."
When I asked about the meaning of the single Julia said, "Traditionally I write
from personal experiences but for this one I wanted to tell someone else's story...that I can relate to. I like to feel all
the emotions. Every track I do is emotionally based."
Julia's new single is not part of an album though she did say she was
working on an EP. Julie Poorman's music is also placed regularly on CBS' daytime soap opera "The Young and The Restless." www.JuliaPoorman.com
