The Pulse of Entertainment: Kat Hawley Debuts with ‘X-IX-VIII' Featuring Greg Manning, Steve Cole, Adam
Hawley, Judah Sealy
(July 19, 2024) - "The entire album has something for everyone,"
said Jazz/R&B vocalist Kat Hawley about her debut album "X-IX-VIII (10-9-8)" (MBF
Entertainment) featuring Steve Cole (sax), Greg Manning (piano), Judah Sealy (sax), and Billboard #1 chart-topper Adam Hawley
(guitar). "
The album was led by the single "Keep On, Keepin' On" which features tenor saxophonist
Steve Cole. That single was followed by the second titled "Never Too Busy." With the release of the "X-IX-VIII
" project, Kat has released yet another single titled "Rather Be." Hawley travels the world as a vocalist for
Jazz guitarist Adam Hawley, her husband who produced the album through MBF Entertainment.
"It's my son's birthday (10-9-2008),"
Kat said about the title to the album when I asked. "I was thinking of calling it "Love Letters" or "Letters
to You" because inside of the CD its like a booklet because I have written the lyrics."
However, Kat Hawley said her son's birthday won out of the title choices because, "My son made me who
I am."
The album has a Jazz/R&B vibe that offers 10 songs created by Kat and Adam.
On selecting what songs
to go on the album Hawley said, "Some we knew...because I could vibe with them. Some I was surprised with myself...listening
back."
About selecting "Summer Breeze" Kat said, "I hated that song. I love the lyrics I wrote for
it. I thought of the South of Spain and Florida, thinking of palm trees, me missing the summertime. But he (Adam) fixed it...I
listened back, and now I love it! It's one of my favorite songs now."
"They also love ‘No Chill',"
she said when I asked which songs the audience seems to like most. "No matter the age. It's so laid back. Super smooth."
Kat Hawley travels a lot with Jazz guitarist Adam Hawley. She is his vocalist on all six
of his albums. As a soloist she gets to do her solo thing at the many Adam Hawley shows he has throughout the year.
"Yes,
I perform a solo show. I did one on Dave Koz Cruise in Greece. I sang songs from my debut album," Kat informed me when
I asked. " I performed in New Port Beach. In Adam's show I sing two of my originals. "Moon Light (For AJ)"
I wrote for my son (Adam Jr.), I sing that and ‘Rather Be' my current single. This past weekend we were at the Detroit
Jazz Festival. I sang ‘Keep on, Keepin' On.' People love that one too."
The "X-IX-VIII" album also features
assistance from Fabian Chavez (sax), Carnell Harrell (keyboard), Michael Stever (trumpet), Kasey Square (keyboard), Tim Bailey
(bass) Caleb Middleton (keyboard), Eric Valentine (drums), and Ramon Islas (percussionist). www.KatHawley.com
