The Pulse of Entertainment: Comedian Nick Callas Releases ‘Wolf Pup,'
His New Stand-Up Special
(July 30, 2024) - "I developed a habit of writing jokes in my notebook
at 17," said comedian Nick Callas about how his comedic talents were formed.
Callas, who
just released a stand-up comedy special "Wolf Pup" through 800LB Gorilla, was a comic
book artist and when I asked about the transition into comedy he said, "There's a lot of similarities. Detail matters...being
visual matters. You're linking creativity and a sense of humor."
Launched
in 2016, the 800 Pound Gorilla Media company is a record label and distribution company. Based in Nashville, it is currently
the world's largest producer, distributor and marketer of stand-up comedy videos, specials and audio releases.
"They
reached out to my management company," Nick said about his deal with 800LB Gorilla. "They asked if they had comedians
ready for a comedy album. I had enough material...had a talk with them.... They decided to expand it into a comedy show."
That was the birth of Nick Callas' "Wolf Pup" (800LB Gorilla) stand-up special.
The New York based comedian is always on tour performing regular stand-up comedy shows at the Comedy Cellar, Stand Up NY,
Westside Comedy Club and Comic Strip Live. He has been the opening act for SNL's Colin Jost, comedian Dana Carvey and iconic
comedian Tracey Morgan. Callas has performed on television in Music Choice's Questionable Choices and NBC's NY's Funniest.
Nick Callas has hosted MTV's One Shining Moment and appears in pilots for MTV and others.
"I think I'm naturally funny,"
the New Jersey native told me when I asked.
That's how he expresses himself - through
jokes.
"I make myself laugh, and people around me laugh," he pointed out about his talent for comedy.
Nick Callas,
a graduate of NYU Tisch in dramatic writing, can do it all. He appears in various viral videos as a character actor, impressionist,
and as a rapper. Callas appears in Jennifer Esposito's 2023 feature film Fresh Kills which debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival
in New York City. On his Instagram Nick says that he is, "improving the human experience through shared laughter." www.800PoundGorillaMedia.com www.NickCallas.com
