The Pulse of Entertainment: Saeed Renaud is ‘Kingsley's Son' on New Album and He's Making Big Moves

(September 10, 1024) - "I started writing with producer Rockwilder," said Saeed Renaud about his music career that has brought him to this point - the release of his solo album "Kingsley's Son". "I knew at six years old (that he wanted to sing). It didn't take off until like 19."

I guess what Saeed is saying is that he officially debuted as a professional singer on Fox's "The Four".

"I came to Los Angeles a lot, eventually I stayed and kept writing songs," Renaud said when we talked about how his music career started.

Saeed Renaud is part of a song writing duo called The Authors whose co-writing credits include BMI's Top 10 Most Performed Gospel Song by Dorinda Clark-Cole titled "Bless the House." Their songwriting credits also include Lalah Hathaway's "Lalah Hathaway Live" which garnered Grammy Award win.

The "Kingsley's Son" project debuted at #9 on Billboard's R&B Chart. His vocal credits include performing as opening act for Aretha Franklin and performing background vocals for Chrisette Michelle.

"We had our own choir," he said about his family's influence on him. "I was choir and music director. My mother can sing her behind off! Her harmony is bananas!"

"I've always been obsessed with music," he added as we talked.

When I asked Saeed who influenced him vocally, he said, "For me....its my mother...she had a powerful voice...Whitney sounds like what I listened to...Wynans, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder. I'm obsessed with Brandy because she sounds like what I listened to (growing up)."
