(September 18, 2024) - "I just came out and did three concerts and a benefit," said Grammy winning Debby Boone ("You Light Up My Life") about her touring schedule which brings her to Rams Head on Stage in Annapolis, Maryland Saturday September 21, 2024.

" I was there quite some time ago I remember once for sure. I remember a happy time. It has lovely acoustics," Debby said when I asked about performing at this venue. "That makes a huge difference. You can hear the instruments and your voice."

Debby Boone came on my radar with her 1977 hit debut single "You Light Up My Life," a song I still listen to as if it came out yesterday. That single spent 10 weeks on Billboard's Top 100 Chart. She won a Grammy for "Best New Artist." The "You Light Up My Life" single became a four-time platinum selling hit. In 2008 "You Light Up My Life" was ranked in Billboard's 50th Anniversary as an all-time top charting song.

In 1980 she focused her music on the Country genre and garnered a #1 Country single "Are You On The Road to Lovin' Me Again." In 1983 she focused on Gospel and released her Contemporary Gospel single "With My Song." Debby Boone went on to win another Grammy Award for "Friends for Life" in 1987. In 1989 she released a Christmas single "Home for Christmas" and "Be Thou My Vision." Debby Boone went on to win another Grammy and seven Grammy Award nominations.

Debby is also an author and actress. She appears as co-star in the Shane Stanley (Emmy winner) directed film Six Days in Evergreen with Dawn Olivieri and Penelope Ann Miller. Boone aired a special on PBS (KVCR-TV) "Swing This: An Evening with Debby Boone" in 2022. She has appeared in "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" in New York (1982); the Lincoln Center production of "The Sounds of Music" (1989); in "Grease" (1996); "Meet Me in St. Louis" (1990); "The King and I" west coast tour (2001); "Into the Woods" (2016), and "42nd Street" (2018).

The special was a live performance as a headliner at the Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival. "Swing This" is Debby Boone's 13th studio album. She recently released "Reflections of Rosemary" (Concord Records) a musical tribute to her mother-in-law the legendary single Rosemary Clooney. Her husband Gabriel Ferrer is an Episcopal priest.

"I have five grandchildren," she said with what I could hear was a big grin on her face. "The youngest is three months!"

Debby grew up around music because of her father Pat Boone who was iconic at the time. He had his show in the Sands Hotel and the Sahara Hotels. Like her father Debby Boone does the same, she has shows at the Carlyle Hotel in NY. She has even worked with members of the Rat Pack - Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr.

"These days I do shows in proximity of each other," Debby added as we talked about her performance dates post-covid pandemic. "That means no long flights. It helps with expenses and for me...I go out and do those shows and then spend time with my husband and grandchildren."

As we ended our talk, I asked Debby about what the audience can expect for her Saturday September 21st show at Rams Head on Stage in Annapolis, Maryland and she said, "I talk to my audience and tell them stories that they haven't heard of that relates to the songs."  www.RamsHeadonStage.com www.DebbyBoone.com
