The Pulse of Entertainment: Geneva Renee Releases ‘Your Tender Kiss' featuring Saxophonist Marqueal Jordan
(September 25, 2024) - "I started working with David, who wrote most
of it," said Soul/Jazz Geneva Renee about her new single "Your Tender Kiss." "To
sing it I had to think about a guy I had a crush on. He (David) asked me what are you thinking about."
Renee took
that crush experience and used it as an emotional push to deliver a stellar project. The "Your Tender Kiss" single
was written by Geneva and Billboard chart-topping David P. Stevens, and features saxophonist Marqueal Jorden (Brian Culbertson).
"David
said we are working on a new album," she continued. "I was so excited how awesome it was."
When I asked if the single is part of an album project, she said, "We just finished the song. You never
know when it will be released."
"I gave David a call and said I was in town...and available let's do it. We did
it overnight," said the California native which is now Washington, DC based when I asked
"He (David) had the track...I
recorded the vocals the same day. I had written a verse and David said let's add a sax," Geneva explained about the single.
Renee is
also Dr. Geneva Renee' - a pharmacist (Howard University). That professionalism is heard in her style and vocal presentation
which has a bit of a classical feel. The "Your Tender Kiss" single is also accompanied with a music video.
"(Marqueal)
He recorded his separately, but it sounds like we were all in the studio having fun," she said excitedly.
Geneva
debuted in 2012 with a project produced by Dinky Bingham (Patti LaBelle) titled "Beautiful Wonder. Dinky also produced
her sophomore album "Brand New Day" in 2021. As a performer she has shared the stage with Mariah Carey, Beyonce',
Shakira, Diana Ross, Maysa Leak and Vanessa Williams. Renee has performed at televised events that honored President Barack
Obama and President Bill Clinton. www.GenevaRenee.com
