(Oct. 8, 2024) - "I love the storytelling," said Country music's Paige King Johnson about this genre of music. "That's pure Country. It's always been engraved in me. Country music is all I know."

Paige just released her new single "Grandpa's Little Girl." The single is written by Johnson and Mike Astrachan. Paige was recently honored with an invite to perform as guest of Pam Tillis at the Grand Ole Opry, where she performed her previous single "Somebody's Gotta Do It."

"It felt like a dream come true," she said about the Grand Ole Opry performance when I asked. "I felt like I was getting pranked when Pam called me. She said, ‘I was wondering if you would like to join me.' All that hard work....dropped at my feet!"

Her vocals are pure Country. I know why Pam Tillis called Paige; she has a fresh realCountry vocal sound. I commented on her special vocal sound and the emotional images her current single "Grandpa's Little Girl" evokes in my mind because of her storytelling and her vocals.

"I wrote the first verse and the chorus...didn't know where to go (after that)," Paige told me when I asked about writing the single about her grandfather. "I wanted to get it absolutely perfect...then Mike came in and co-wrote...the second verse."

Paige, a five-time Carolina Country Music Award winner, just ended a two-month tour that took her all over North Carolina, Alabama, Virginia and Wisconsin. She is about to start another two-month tour on Oct 10th in North Carolina at the ZincHouse Winery and Brewery; then Oct. 11th in NC at the Greens at Arboretum; Oct. 13th in NC at the Owls Roost Brewery; Oct. 18th - 21st in Tennessee at the Dollywood's Heart Song Lodge and Resort; Oct. 25th in Kentucky at the Three Boys Farm Distillery; Oct. 26th in NC at the HollyFest; Oct. 27th in NC at the NC State Fair; Nov. 2nd in NC at the Seahorse Eats and Drinks; Nov. 3rd in NC at the UnWined Wine Bar & Beer, and Nov 4th in Tennessee at the Song Suffragettes.

As we closed our interview, Paige and I talked about her grandpa and his influence on not only her music but her life. He passed when she was young and when she turned 16 years-old her family gave her, her grandpa's truck for her birthday.

"It's still at the family's farm," said the Belmont University of Music Business graduate when I asked if she still had her grandpa's truck.  www.PaigeKingJohnson.com
