(October 25, 2024) - "My big moment globally was designing for Paris Hilton, " said fashion designer K Daniels (Keiandrea Daniels). "It was designed....for her purse."

The beautiful sky-blue outfit K Daniels designed for Paris Hilton was made to match Paris' purse. Daniels said that, however, the first big moment in general for her as a fashion designer was designing the outfit for B. Simon's video to celebrate Simon becoming a millionaire.

K Daniels had just completed her Los Angeles Fashion Week run and before that she made her New York Fashion Week run when we talked.

"I started in high school," K Daniels said when I asked about how her designing started. "I studied fashion merchandising and business. I had been dealing with life. Working a job and running my business."

"It was in 2017, I was always starting and quitting, starting and quitting," she continued as we discussed how she made it big as a fashion designer. "My uncle popped up and he never pops up. He said, ‘What are you doing?' I said, ‘Looking for a job.' He said, ‘Why?' He started asking me questions like, ‘Isn't making clothes your gift?' I said, ‘Yes, I'd like to design bridal gowns.' He said, ‘How much would you charge?' I said, "$3000.' He said, ‘You would only need to design two a month.' He pointed out a scripture Proverbs 18:16 that said your gift would bring you in front of great men. It changed my mindset."

With her new mindset, K Daniels made $3,500 designing a wedding gown and has not looked back since or found the need to find a "job."

"It was a series of moments that added up," K Daniels pointed out as we continued our talk about her mega success.

Since then, K Daniels went from designing bridal gowns to designing gowns for high profile individuals, especially after winning the Hulu fashion designer competition "Dress My Tour" (Season One). She went on to design for Toni Braxton, JoJo Siwa, Paula Abdul, French Montana, Jesse James Decker, K. Michelle, Jekalyn Carr and Paris Hilton.

When I asked about the fashion designing industry now that she is a part of it, at the top of the trade, she said, "I think it has a big gap. There is not a lot of African-American women. The industry is filled with men. There is not a lot of major women designers and less black women designers."

What makes K Daniels designs different in this elite field is, she said, "I don't go by the same rules as everyone...I was not versed in the designer way to do things. That's why I became who I am. I go to shows and my looks are nothing like what everyone else is showing."

That means K Daniels, as a fashion designer, is amongst elites. Making her an elite, a role well earned. www.KDanielsDesigns.com
