(January 28, 2025) - "I pick my musicians and singers...with track records. Track records you can't overlook like what they have done in their career," said Broadway performer Aaron Akins (Broadway's "Into the Cole") when I asked about the band and singers that will be with him during his "When Do We Love Tour," which was launched January 11, 2025. "One background singer sang for Natalie Cole for 16 years and another sings with Earth, Wind and Fire."

Not only that, but Aaron's band members are just as impressive. The tour is named after his latest single "When Do We Love" which features vocal assistance from Walter and Wallace Scott (The Whispers). The legendary twins were at a concert of Aaron's and heard his new single which they praised him for after the show. Aaron not missing a business-beat asked if they would sing on it and as they say, "the rest is history." Akins has been on local and national television shows and major radio shows talking about his collaboration with Walter and Wallace Scott (The Whispers).

I had the pleasure of seeing Aaron's concert in 2024 at the Catalina Jazz Club in Los Angeles and his band, the singers and Aaron's vocals and professionalism was awe inspiring. He brings Broadway skills to the clubs.

"I have the most top of the line artist in the world," Akins told me when I questioned him about the tour.

"My song ‘When Do We Love' motivated me (to launch the tour)," Akins told me. "I just want as many people in the world to hear the song...to make a difference as I move through the world. Particularly in the climate we are in politically and socially...our state-of-affairs."

Aaron spoke passionately about his desire to spread love during the "When Do We Love" tour. He is passionate about the arts as a multi-talent artist. He is also an actor who plays Herbie Handcock in the Emmy winning Netflix comedy "I Think You Should Leave" and is seen in the movie Split Decision with Gene Hackman and Jennifer Beals.

"I have a catalog (of songs) it depends on the situation, the date...sometimes ‘I' don't know what song I'm going to do until a couple days before," he told me when I asked what songs will be performed. "I have a hit song in Chicago so I would end with that song there. We go to North Carolina in April (18th at Pour House)."

The "When Do We Love" tour also arrives in Austin, TX May 7th at the Vulcan; June 11th at the Above DNA Lounge; June 13th in Chicago at the WC Social Club, and June 14th in Milwaukee at Shank Hall.

His catalog of songs include "I Just Wanna Love U," a selection heard in the movie Black Butterfly with Antonio Banderas. He released the "Love Is All Around" project which has five cover songs of Nate King Cole. One of the songs on the "Love Is All Around" project - "Nature Boy" - is accompanied by a music video. These songs can be heard in the Broadway production of "Into the Cole."

"They (Walter and Wallace Scott) said, ‘God wrote that song,'" Aaron emphasized to me, almost in disbelief, so humbled by the compliment from the legends. www.AaronAkinsMusic.com
