(February 7, 2025) - "I'm classical and he (husband) is a rock drummer," Marina V (Marina Verenikina) said about the meaning behind her latest single "Symphony & Metal". "It's a song we wrote, my husband and I. We were thinking a full-on symphony with Rock guitar and drums. Really just a beautiful alignment."

To hear "Symphony & Metal" you become impressed with how they melted the two genres together into a powerful piece. The single features some impressive musicians such as Oscar nominated composer Steve Horner (piano); Marina V's husband Nick Baker (drums); David Ellefson (Megadeth), and KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick.

"My main instrument is the piano," said the Los Angeles Music Critic Awards winner when I mention I saw her playing guitar and piano. "I'm a trained pianist."

Marina V debuted in 1999, and she has 12 albums to her credit. She is also a sought-after songwriter. Her songs can be heard on "Young & the Restless" ("You Make Me Beautiful"), Pepsi commercials and YouTube show "Kote Kitty," which has a billion views. She has shared the stage with Howard Jones, Macy Gray and Beth Hart.

I was impressed with the guest musicians she had on the single "Symphony & Metal" and ask about them, in particular Academy Award nominated composer Steve Horner and the Illinois College graduate said, "He is a genius. In the music business...it's a small world. They are lovely folks that I've known for 20 years, all of them."

I asked about her song writing style for the "Symphony & Metal" and she said, "It started with piano and vocals, my husband played drums...the producer put elements together. We had a draft sent to Bruce (guitarist) and told him to do his thing. He recorded it and said, ‘How's that?'"

Bruce's guitar playing on the single is worthy of this song becoming a classic. Marina V confirmed to me that the single is off her upcoming album ("Labyrinthine Rose"). Then I asked about a music video for the single, eager to see how visually they combine classical symphony music and rock metal.

"We are working on it," said the Hollywood International Entertainment Award to me as we ended our interview. "We just have a lyrical video (for now)." www.MarinaV.com
