The Pulse of Entertainment: Flutist Kim Scott Releases New Album ‘Livin'
It Up' on Innervision Records

(April 1, 2025) - "It's a great time to be alive," said Billboard
chart-topping flutist Kim Scott about the meaning to the title of her new album "Livin'
It Up" (Innervision Records). "Be in a positive mind-set."
She continued telling me about the
project, "The producer is Kelvin (Wooten), he produced five of my six albums. He is a Grammy winner, written songs for
Earth, Wind & Fire, Anthony Hamilton and J Cole."
Scott, who was named Songwriter
of the Year by Billboard, also has two-time Grammy winner Paul Brown, multi-Billboard chart-toppers Greg Manning and Michael
Broening as co-producers of the "Livin' It Up" project.
"Greg, I have worked with him on my fifth album. He is easy to
work with. The newest are Paul Brown and Michael Broening. I heard great things about them," said the Smooth Jazz Network
Artist of the Year when I asked about all the heavyweight producers on her "Livin' It Up" album.
On the "Livin' It Up" project featured musicians include Billboard chart-topping saxophonist Jeff
Ryan, Grammy winning guitarist Freddie Fox, and bass player Mel Brown who are all on the Mediabase #1 single "Like Butter."
Also included are Grammy winning Shane Theriot; guitarist Eric Essix; saxophonist Kelley O'Neal; keyboardist Phil Davis (Boney
James); beat-maker VIKWYNBEAT, and drummer James "PJ" Spraggins. The "Livin' It Up" album also features
rapper Naomi Achu. The current single from the project is titled "Freedom."
"I grew up in a musical household.
My parents were musicians at Stack Records, Dynamic Soul Machine, so it's in my genes," Kim said when I commented on
her excellent showmanship on stage. "My mother put me on violin and piano. By the 5th grade I was reading efficiently.
In bands I was exposed to different instruments, and I picked up the flute and I didn't put it down. So, it was already in
me. My mother is a classical pianist, so I know how to be a professional entertainer. I was exposed to live performances.
I was pretty good by middle school...using the bathroom as my stage (because of the sound and the mirror). A lot of people
still know my parents' legacy. I didn't start out as Jazz (flutist), but I started as a classical flutist."
Flutist Kim
Scott has worked with the best, such as Jonathan Butler, James Lloyd, Jonathan Fritzen and Jazmin Ghent. She debuted in 2011
as a soloist with the "Crossing Over" project. In 2022 she makes the top of the Billboard charts with "Shine"
when its title track reached #1 (her 3rd #1) on Billboard charts and also garnered her Billboard's Song of the Year. Kim also
launched Jazz in Pink, a band of female musicians. Her performances have been at such venues as Catalina Island JazzTrak Festival,
Seabreeze Jazz Festival, Greater Harford Jazz Festival and Algarve Jazz Festival.
Scott
comes from a classical background, and she still delves into it performing in the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, the National
Flute Association, Mid-South Flute Festival, and the International Festival of Flutists in South America. She is also an educator
teaching Applied Flute Studio at Alabama School of Fine Arts, where she once served as department chair.
