The Pulse of Entertainment: Jazz Vocalist Kathy
Sanborn Releases New Album ‘Romance Language,' Honoring Trumpeter Uan Rasey

(August 8, 2025) - "He (Uan Rasey) was a trumpeter
at MGM (Studios). He did all the soundtracks for all the movies," said Kathy Sanborn about
the inspiration for her new album's title track "Romance Language" (Pacific Coast Jazz).
"The kick-off song was ‘Romance Language,' inspired by Uan. He is best known for his 1974 film China."
The
title track is laced with trumpet horns that amplifies Uan's style played by trumpeter Wayne Ricci. The "Romance Language"
album offers 10 tracks in English, Spanish and French. This is Kathy Sanborn's ninth studio project.
"Oh
(Wayne) this is the trumpeter that plays on all of my albums," she added when I asked who the awesome trumpeter was on
the title track. "He adds a lot of emotions."
"A lot of the music (on MGM's soundtracks) was
well written. I'm a classic film fan. Makes me happy," Kathy said about the inspiration for the new album. "It took
about a year and a half. A long time. It usually doesn't take that long. But it unfolded on its own. It was inspired...My
first album in eight years."
Kathy is an award-winning Jazz vocalist that I have interviewed several times and
I am still amazed by her dedication and passion for her music, and the quality of her production. Sanborn produced the album
playing keyboard while Ricci assisted on trumpet.

"I'm
a movie soundtrack fan," she said as we talk about the music of that era.
Sanborn debuted in 2008 with
"Peaceful Sounds" and 17 years and nine albums later she has made her mark on the Jazz genre and has garnered several
awards for her music. In 2015 the singer/songwriter/composer won the "American Songwriting Award" for her single
"Fantasy." She was a featured artist on World Music album titled "A Musical Journey: Together in Peace"
by Rupam Sartmah that reached #1 on Billboard.
"I'd like to
get the most listenership as I can," she said when I asked what her goal was for this project. "Some (songs) are
in Spanish. The last song we made is my favorite, ‘Never Blue.' It (the album) deserves to be listened to." http://www.KathySanborn.com
