The Pulse of Entertainment: Baltimore's Gabby Samone
Ends American Idol Finals with a Tour That Ends September 27, 2025 at the Horseshoe Casino
(September 26, 2025) - "I study
the greats," said Gabby Samone, an American Idol season 23
finalist, about her style of vocal performances when I complimented her song delivery style - opening softly, then building
to a climax and then bringing it down to very soft end. "Like Whitney Houston, she does that a lot."
A
Baltimore native Gabby went through performance after performance on American Idol making her way to the finals of season
23 of the very popular broadcasted talent competition. She sang a wide array of genres of music too, such as Nina Simone's
"Four Women," "Donny Hathaway's "A Song for You," Whitney Houston's "Saving All My Love,"
Celine Dion's "It's All Coming Back to Me," and Barbra Streisand's "Don't Rain on My Parade."
"I
do love all different genres," she said when I pointed this out.
When I asked how she picks her songs
Gabby Samone said, "They gave us a long list. I love Barbra Streisand, show-tunes, R&B and Pop."

Samone
is a vocal powerhouse, and I asked about that vocal power because it is seen in people from Baltimore. Baltimore is my hometown
too, and I've been told I get pretty-loud, especially when I laugh.
"I had to show my range...it's
a competition," she explained with a slight laugh. "It's Important to tell a story...and not stay one tone,"
Being
from Baltimore I asked her what part of town she is from, and it seems we grew up in the same area - Edmonson Village or Edmonson
Avenue corridor area. We even went to the same high school - Edmonson High (until I transferred to a school of the arts called
Lake Clifton).
"Edmonson Avenue and Hilton Avenue ( area)," she said when answering my question.
"I wasn't in the choirs. I knew a choir director who took me to sing on his choir at Lake Clifton all the time."
"I
thought I was going to do hair," Gabby giggle a little.
"It's important to be a good role model,"
she said as we talked about both of us being from the hood but not being of the hood - something I said to my two children
while raising them in the hood.
Both have doctorate degrees, with 6 figure salaries - one still lives in the hood.
I
then complimented her on her hair styles on the show and asked if she did that herself and she said no, but "I made the
wigs they used...I made the curly clips they styled."
When I interviewed Gabby Samone she was on a four-city
tour ("Gabby Samone Live!"), with the last date being a performance in her home state of Maryland that was coming
up. The tour took her to Atlanta, Philadelphia, Boston and will end in Maryland September 27, 2025 at the Horseshoe Casino
as she performs as opening act for Grammy nominated Eric Benet.
"I wasn't stressed...just chilling," Samone
said as I asked her about how she felt after not moving on during the finals of the American Idol season 23 experience. "It
was a lot of fun."
