The Pulse of Entertainment: Dr. Earl Bynum Celebrates 35 Years
in Gospel as a Recording Artist, Radio Host, Choir Director, Author and Record Label Owner
(February 9, 2026) - "I just go with whatever the flow
is," said Dr. Earl Bynum when I pointed out, he must be a great organizer because of all that
he does (recording artist, songwriter, producer, radio show host, choir director, TV personality, music minister, vocal arranger,
record label owner (Lrae Entertainment), author and board leader). "I started as early as six years old...playing the
piano...88 key piano...by ear, no lessons. I grew up in a Pentecostal church...they threw me on the piano!"
Celebrating
35 years in the Gospel music industry, Dr. Bynum is a two-time Stellar Award winner for "Contemporary Male Vocals."
Aside from his Gospel recording career, he hosts a Gospel syndicated radio show, "One Stage with Earl Bynum," and
has his own record label Lrae Entertainment which has three artists on its roster.
"I started
the label because my son wanted to do music," Earl said when I asked.
His radio show started because he simply asked
for one to the right person at the right time. The show was birth in 2000 at 100.1.FM WBXB in a late-night slot. Then in 2005
it was picked up by Musical Soulfood 100.9FM WFMI (a network of radio stations). His show has been in syndication (2009) for
15 years (with co-host Stellar winning Lucinda Moore) - heard in 45 markets.
"It's on the weekends, Saturdays (10am
- 12pmEST) in 45 markets," he said. "It started on Sundays as a R&B/Indie Gospel morning show - 160 stations
- Rejoice Network (formerly Music Soulfood) of Mike Chandler. He is an African-American."
Dr. Earl Bynum produced his show himself and then he started to hire co-producers like Ray Pope in 2007.
"It's
produced now by Cedric Bailey. We work well together. He is a radio producer and programmer...a multi-Stellar Award winner,"
Dr. Bynum said when I asked about who producers his radio show now. "I let him do what-he-do. I come in as a client."
His music
career started at Light Records where he worked with some talented producers and released "My Change Has Come" in
2004. He released his solo debut album on Catapult Records in 2009 titled "Open My Heart".
"That project got me into radio," Dr. Bynum pointed out. "They came to my listening party.
I said, ‘if you looking...let me now.' He called me...for a local show for independent artists."
If all this is not enough,
he is also National Chairman Dr. Bynum of the GMWA Alliance of Gospel Music Professionals; Executive Advisor Dr. Bynum of
the Tidewater Chapter of GMWA; Eastern Regional Chair Dr. Bynum of The National Association of Gospel Radio; Vice President
Dr. Bynum of The Gospel Industry Network; Executive Director Dr. Bynum of The Mount Global Fellowship of Churches (seven campuses),
and President Dr. Bynum of Lrae Entertainment record label. He is also the author of the book "Still Standing:
30 Days of Strength When Life Hits Hard."
"I am serving as senior vice president of the Gospel Industry Network
of Bishop Kenneth Wells and regional director of the National Association of Gospel Radio - from Virginia to Connecticut -
13 states! And I was appointed executive advisor of Gospel Music Network (Workshop) of America (local chapter) by Al Hobbs,
and I am on the board of Hymn for Hymns of David Allen. It is to keep hymns alive," Dr. Earl Bynum said as we concluded
our interview. www.LraeEntertainment.com www.EarlBynumMusic.com
