The Pulse of Entertainment: Actor/Rapper Chef Sean Receives Image Award Nomination Consideration in Two Categories

(February 24, 2026) - "Yes, I am being considered for nominations for ‘Outstanding Album' ("The Weigh Up") and ‘Outstanding Music Video' ("No Name Remix")," said rapper/actor Chef Sean (Sean Christopher) about the 2026 NAACP Image Awards. "The fact that they gave...consideration was dope."

Chef Sean is a quite Hip-Hop storm that is about at full mass. His album "The Weigh Up" (released June 2025) showcases powerful tracks/production of the artist that represents his style. The 2025 "No Name Remix," which features R&B singer Jeremih (Def Jam), is accompanied by a music video directed by Forte Digital. The "No Name Remix" music video with Jeremih has over 1.5 million views in just six months on YouTube. It's original "No Name," which has Siya singing the hook, has a music video also that has over 357,000 views.

"I remember just having 1,000 - 1,200 views," Chef said with a slight laugh when I pointed out the unbelievable number of views in such a short time from his most recent music video ("No Name Remix").

The Chicago native's fan base comes from the streets, the community, and his fan numbers are amassing a tidal-wave of word-of-mouth-advertisers in the Hip-Hop community. A community that is starving for artists that bring back that pure Hip-Hop music.

"It was in 2016...Color Money (who is on Rick Ross' new project ‘Black Market') put out a song...I've been very focused (on rapping) ever since," Sean told me when I asked why and when did he start taking his music seriously, "(Since then) I have had let downs and triumphs."

I then asked Chef Sean if he does his own music production because the music/tracks (and even his music videos) are of outstanding quality. The level of perfection that one would find in work that someone put BIG money into.

"Yes...I have - on some. But I also reach out to producers in Miami, New York, Ukraine...," he replied.

Sean has released five albums. His debut "Loud Pack" was released independently; then he released his "Street Pay Me" through Universal/Star City; then his "Been Famous Project" off Star City, and "Bust Down Bucks and Bottles" on Star City as well. His fifth and latest album is "The Weigh Up".

I asked about any live performances coming up because of all the fans' support I was wondering if he performs live a lot for them.

"I believe we are setting up some shows," Chef told me. "I just came back from performing in Houston, Cleveland and Chicago."
Musically Sean was trained at Five Town's College in New York. As an actor he attended Second City Theatre in Chicago and then Chicago Academy of the Arts through a Belushi Scholarship. Sean started acting at the age of 12, appearing in the MGM/Gramercy film Jason's Lyrics as a young Jason, which starred Forest Whitaker and Jada Pickett-Smith. Other credits include ABC's original movie There are No Children Here, and ABC's Missing Persons. Chef currently appears in his series "Ask a Rap Dude" airing on IGTV's YouTube Channel. Sean also wrote/produced the title track to the movie Teeth and Blood.
