The Pulse of Entertainment: Neo Soul/Jazz Vocalist Kea Releases New Single
‘We Made it Thru’, Featuring Butter, David Delhomme and Mark Bowers (April 18, 2023) - "It's called ‘We Made It Thru' because we've
come through some of the worst of life's experiences," said Neo-Soul/Jazz singer/songwriter Kea about
her new single. "That was the vision behind the song. It's symbolic of us making it through."
The "We
Made It Thru" single is co-written by Lem Springsteen (Kanye West, Queen Latifah). Butter of Bread &
Butter Productions is on keyboards, drums, percussion and backing vocals, David Delhomme (Marcus Miller) is on keyboard, organ
and lead synth, and Mark Bowers is on guitar and bass. Based in Pittsburg Kea had recently performed during the Austin SXSW
when I talked to her.
"They were absolutely wonderful," she said about the SXSW concert experiences.
"I performed at two different venues (Flamingo Cantina and Smokey Creek Cajun Bar & Grill), despite still battling
a respiratory virus, I still pulled through."
"It was an all-black band...ages 22 - 30 and they were
very humbling. I like working with humbling musicians," Kea added.
Kea has been warmly welcomed since she
debuted in 2015 by releasing a line-up of singles. Her singles have reached the Top 20 Charts on the UK's Soul Chart and Top
40 on the DRT Global Independent Airplay Chart.
"I put a snippet of the single on my Instagram," she
said. "A female drummer (from her SXSW shows) responded, ‘Why didn't you do this!' If you go to KeaTV, that's my
handle KEA TV, you can capture the performance. We in the process of editing it now."
"The single is
to encourage us and empower us. We're still here and we made it through to tell the story," Kea concluded the interview
