The
Pulse of Entertainment: RCA Inspiration's Melvin Crispell, III Releases ‘I've Got a Testimony' (September
4, 2020) - "I had my first performance at three,' said Melvin Crispell, III, one of RCA Inspiration's
newest Gospel recording artists. Melvin has an amazing voice which garnered him a big win at the ninth season of the BET "Sunday
Best" talent competition. That win, included $50,000 and a recording contract at RCA Inspiration/Sony (Kirk Franklin,
Marvin Sapp, Hezekiah Walker). In 2019 RCA Inspiration released a debut EP ‘Prologue III.' In the Fall of 2020 RCA Inspiration
released his debut album "I've Got a Testimony," which was led by the single "Wonderful is Your Name."
"It was so amazing...It was so many emotions," Melvin said of his experiences performing on "Sunday
Best." "Exhilarating, exciting, nerve-wrecking times...being a worship person I wanted to make sure my heart was
in the right place."
His voice is all heart so I have no doubt his heart was in the right place on the "Sunday
Best" competition aired on BET. At 22 years-old Melvin Crispell, III honors his father on his debut album, the late Melvin
Crispell, Jr., with the "Wonderful is Your Name" single, produced by Jevon Hill, because his father wrote it. Crispell,
Jr. wrote for and was a featured musician on projects for Hezekiah Walker and Juanita Bynum. "I've Got a Testimony"
offers 10 selections.
"I was about three years-old at home. A song was on the radio and I wouldn't stop singing
it," he said when I ask when did his parents know he had a special voice. "My parents knew I wanted to sing at three."
Melvin Crispell, III performed during the 10th season of the BET "Sunday Best" competition for its premiered.
