The Pulse of Entertainment: Reggae's Kalico Di King Releases ‘Clouds'
Single on VPAL Music (May 9, 2023) - "We adlibbed...," Dancehall superstar Kalico
Di King told me when I said how much fun they seemed to be having in the music video to his new single "Clouds" (Soul
Survivor Recordz/VPAL Music/VP Records), produced by Johnoy Williams, known as TV Boss (TV Boss Entertainment), from his upcoming
EP "Nielsen Road.
TV Boss (Stephen Marley video) is a Jamaican music video star/actor and comedian. He appears
in the "Clouds" music video, which was shot by MWorks.
"I listened to different beats my parent
label sent me," Kalico said. "Before you know it, I wrote the song in one day. I sent it to my parent company. I
was aware of him (Johnoy Williams) but didn't know his name. I'd seen him in so many videos. I said, ‘Oh that guy!"
Kalico continued to talk about the "Clouds" single collaboration with the music video star/comedian saying,
"It just came together. It was his beats that were actually sent to me...he is trying to get into the business."
Di King is a Canadian who successfully combined Dancehall and Reggae with Hip-Hop and R&B influence becoming a
Toronto sensation. The "Cloud" single is an ode to the marijuana (weed) industry in Canada. It was recorded at Cherry
Beach Sound (Drake, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber) a world-renowned recording studio in Toronto.
Kalico is best known
for his single "Badmind" (Soul Survivor Recordz/VPAL Music/VP Records) and is noted as Canada's top 20 Caribbean
talents. Previous singles include "Tight Like" (Dark House International/Allstar Empire Entertainment), "Di
Shipment" (Dark House International/Allstar Empire Entertainment), "Angel of Death" (Dark House International/Allstar
Empire Entertainment), "Nuh Offa" (Dark House International/Allstar Empire Entertainment) and "Stress"
(Soul Survivor Recordz/VPAL Music/VP Records). His last single release was "Dogs Rich" (Soul Survivor Recordz/VPAL
Music/VP Records).
"We just want to represent the marijuana culture," Kalico said as we concluded our
talk. www.VPALMusic.com www.VPRecords.com SYNDICATED
